Flying into Denpasar airport never stops being exciting – waiting for you right outside those doors are stunning white sandy beaches, cold $0.50 beers just begging you to sip them, and pretty much any sort of adventure you feel like getting up to.
The only thing standing in your way is…a huge customs line, pushy cab drivers, fees you might not know about, immigration forms, Visas, omg.
Breathe, it’s ok, I’m here to help.
The best way to get through Denpasar airport stress free is to know some of the inside tips and tricks on the workings of this international hub.
Three tips to get you through Bali’s airport ASAP:
- FORMS: Have your customs and immigration forms filled out before you hit the tarmac. I would even go so far as to suggest asking the flight attendants for copies mid-flight in case they run out when they’re distributing them at top-of-descent. Complete them in black pen and make sure you know the details of your hotel or accommodation. If you stop to fill out your forms after the airplane’s doors open, your queue time racks up quickly!
- VISAS: Check www.bali.com before you leave to see if your home country is allows to get a Visa on arrival. If you’re not, you’ll need to follow the steps outlined on the website to obtain a Visa before you leave.
- BRING CASH: Although there is an ATM in the arrivals hall, when you think about how many people probably forgot to bring cash and need to stop to use it, well, there goes that queue time adding up like a taxi meter in a traffic jam. The airport accepts most major currencies including US Dollars, Australian Dollars, Euro, and of course, Indonesian Rupiah. Have smaller change ready to go so when you pay your $35 Visa fee, you’ll have some left over to pay for a cab.
